Vijayata Pandit reveals Kumar Gaurav knew that his father, Rajendra Kumar was getting her removed from films
Back then, reports were rife that Vijayata Pandit and Kumar Gaurav were extremely serious about their relationship and were planning to tie the knot. However, as time passed, it was reported that Kumar Gaurav’s father, Rajendra Kumar, wasn’t in favour of his son’s decision to tie the knot with Vijayata Pandit. As a result, Kumar Gaurav and Vijayata broke their relationship and moved forward in their respective lives.
Fast forward to October 2024, and in an interview with the Indian Express, Vijayata Pandit revealed how her then-boyfriend, Kumar Gaurav told her to stop working in films. At that time, Vijayata was receiving many film offers due to the success of her debut film, Love Story, but Kumar Gaurav told her that they would get married so she wouldn’t have to work as he’d take care of them financially. However, Vijayata also added that Kumar Gaurav knew that his father, Rajendra Kumar was getting her removed from films, after he got to know about her relationship with her son. She said:
“I wanted to work. I was getting offers for a lot of films. But I was thinking of getting married. Bunty (Kumar Gaurav) used to ask me why I wanted to work. He said, ‘Tum mere ghar ki aur meri heroine bano, you don’t have to work.’ He said that we were getting married and he was going to work, so I didn’t need to. He knew that his father was getting me removed from films.”
Further, in the same interview, Vijayata Pandit explained why Rajendra Kumar was against his son, Kumar Gaurav’s decision to marry her. Opening up about the same, Vijayata shared that Kumar Gaurav was loyal to her, but it was his father, Rajendra Kumar, who did everything in his power to break their relationship. She further added that Kumar Gaurav’s sister knew Namrata Dutt, and she started inviting her to their home so that her friend and brother could come closer. She said:
“They thought she (Namrata Dutt) was better than Vijayta. The family pressurized him so much that eventually Namrata and Bunty came close. They thought she was Sunil Dutt’s daughter and was wealthy, so she was a better option for Kumar Gaurav.”
Vijayata Pandit also called Rajendra Kumar a very money-minded man, as she revealed that money was the primary reason why he was against his son, Kumar Gaurav’s decision to marry her. Vijayata shared that Rajendra wanted his son to get married to a girl, who belongs to a wealthy family. The actress admitted that she belonged to a well-to-do family but wasn’t as rich as Rajendra Kumar’s family. Sharing how money broke her relationship with Kumar Gaurav, Vijayata said:
“His (Kumar Gaurav) family thought I was not as rich as they were. Money was the main reason why they were against the relationship. They wanted him to get married to a wealthy girl. Rajendra Kumar was a very money-minded man. He wanted his son to marry a rich girl. He thought we were not up to that level of being rich. But we were well-to-do, not as rich as him.”
