Recently, a TikTok video of a Canadian woman surfaced on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), which has sparked a debate about cultural tolerance and racism once again. In the shared video, a Canadian woman can be seen venting about how she was trying to get some sleep, which was interrupted by a noisy Indian wedding. The clip has raised concerns and opinions from across the globe on social media, and a significant part of the users commented racist remarks about the Indian community living abroad.
A video posted by a Canadian woman sparks a racist debate online
The viral video features a frustrated woman, who, according to the video, identifies as Sadie Crowell, expressed her dismay with the loud music while she tried to rest. In the video, Sadie is seen in her room while loud music can be heard in the background. She revealed that the music had been playing all night, making it impossible for her to get some sleep. She also captured the group of people from her balcony. The video showed a large gathering that seemed like a baraat. Sadie Crowell was quoted saying:
“This is me sleeping on my bed, and there is a wedding that has been going on all night.”
An X account posted the clip. From the looks of it, the account focuses on such controversial posts and supports racism. The account’s description reads, ‘Racism never takes a break, and censorship will never work on me. Mass deportation demanded’. However, what really caught the attention of the netizens was the caption. They penned:
“Everyone will despise the Indians given enough time.”
Internet reacts to the viral clip
Soon after the post was made, the internet was divided. While some users criticised Sadie Crowell for making such harsh remarks and being inconsiderate. Others sympathised with her, pointing out the need for balance between celebrations and respecting others’ peace, particularly in residential areas. An X user wrote, “It is so wrong. Making such a fuss in the country that they went to grow themselves. They left India, so they had to adapt to the country in which they resided in.” Another user pointed out, “The Spanish people would throw large buckets of water out the window in that situation.” A commenter penned, “Is this sort of loud nuisance permissible in a residential area?”
However, that was not all. A user pointed out a government flaw and stated. “It is part of a big plan to import so many Indians, as they are easy to control and don’t speak up while politicians continue their corruption. The best example is India: a corrupt government, yet people keep electing them while trying to escape.” Another user demanded mass deportation and wrote, “If Mass Immigration can happen, then why not Mass DEPORTATION?! Canada should make and adopt the policy of MACA – Make Canada Great Again.”
