IPL 2025 has already begun, and so is the excitement among cricket fanatics. The 10 teams have been showcasing their power on the battleground, leaving the fans screaming at the top of their lungs. On March 29, 2025, the match was between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans. The game was in GT’s favour and it was the second consecutive defeat for MI. Well, in a shocking visual that made rounds, cricketer Suryakumar Yadav’s fans remained worried after he fell flat on the ground.

While the match was going on, Suryakumar Yadav’s masterclass batting was leaving fans cheering for him. Well, later, the ball was given to the opponent team’s bowler, Prasidh Krishna. No sooner did Prasidh Krishna deliver the ball swiftly, Surya wanted to smash the short, slower ball, but it mistakenly hit the top edge of the latter’s helmet. Suryakumar, being in shock and pain, fell to the ground immediately, leaving everyone worried.
His wife, Devisha Shetty, who was present on the ground, looked tensed after her husband was knocked on the ground with the hit of the ball. Had there not been a helmet, then it would have been more dangerous and could have impacted Surya’s eyes. While the cricketer was soon back on his feet and was playing, giving the idea that he was all fit and fine, he was seen having mild discomfort in his eyes.
Suryakumar Yadav’s IPL journey
Suryakumar Yadav began his IPL journey back in 2011 with the team, Mumbai Indians. Following this, he also contributed to the team to lift the winning trophy in 2019 and in 2021. Surya also played for Kolkata Knight Riders, and helped the team to win in 2014. Well, in 2018, Yadav was back to his first IPL team, MI, and has been playing for the same ever since. In 2025, Surya is playing with MI, and reportedly, the team acquired the service of the cricketer for Rs. 16.35 crore during the auction.

Suryakumar Yadav, the hard-hitting middle-order batsman, started playing club cricket in Mumbai before being selected by the Mumbai cricket team. Talking about his early life, Yadav was born and brought up in Bombay. He started playing cricket under the guidance of his paternal uncle, Vinod Kumar Yadav. After the same, only at the age of 10, Yadav was enrolled in a cricket academy wherein he was coached by Ashok Kamat.
In 2010, he made his debut in List A for Mumbai, first-class and T20. In March 2021, Yadav made his T20 and ODI debut. Suryakumar Yadav first met his now-wife, Devisha Shetty, back in 2010. Well, the couple have been with each other through everything. It was in July 2016, when Yadav got married to dance coach, Devisha Shetty.
