Dua Lipa is a renowned English-Albanian singer, known for her chart-topping hits such as Levitating, Dance The Night, No Lie, Houdini, and more. Her influence extends beyond music, as she has also ventured into acting, with roles in Barbie, No Time To Die, Emily, Champions, and others. Recently, Dua came to India for her Mumbai concert, and she is now going viral for all the right reasons.
For the unversed, a few months back, Dua Lipa’s song, Levitating and Shah Rukh Khan’s song, Woh Ladki Jo’s mashup, was going viral on social media platforms. Taking cue from the same, Dua, during her Mumbai concert, set the stage on fire with her song, Levitating, but not with the OG one, but rather with the mashup having SRK’s song. Fans are loving Dua’s take on her own song, but it seems like the OG singer of Woh Ladki Jo Sabse Alag Hai, Abhijeet Bhattacharya, isn’t too happy about it.
Abhijeet Bhattacharya’s salty take on Dua Lipa and SRK getting all the credit for Levitating X SRK
Abhijeet Bhattacharya is known for his opinionated personality, where he doesnt hesitate from calling a spade a spade. After Dua Lipa’s performance went viral, he shared the reel on his Instagram stories and wrote that the song is popular only because of legends like him and Anu Malik. For the unversed, Abhijeet sang the song, and it was composed by Anu Malik. In Abhijeet’s words:
“Song is hit and popular because of legends like Abhijeet and Anu Malik!”
Abhijeet then shared another story where he shared his dismay over how no one in India praises singers but goes gaga over the actor in it. When Dua Lipa must have heard the song, she heard it in his voice, and it was not SRK singing it, so he is the one who deserves the praise and not SRK. He clarified that he is not taking a dig at SRK as he himself is his biggest fan, but he is criticising Indians who don’t support singers like people in the West do. Abhijeet further added:
“The problem is that no one talks about it. What happened to- Woh Ladki Jo- Abhijeet? Unfortunately we live in a country where not one news outlet or Instagram page has mentioned the voice and the artists of this song. Why has it always been about actors in this country? I’m sure when @dualipa heard this song she must have heard it and not seen it and not appreciated the man that has sung this song and yes it is not SRK. It is @abhijeetbhattacharya and @anumalikmusic.”
Abhijeet also added:
“I am sorry but this song is called Woh Ladki Jo sabse alag hai- Abhijeet wherever you search it. but somehow the media in this country never lets a singer get his due and then people ask me why don’t you try and sing for Bollywood. This is not about Shah Rukh Khan I’m his biggest fan ever. This is about our audience and about our media who don’t support the singers of our country like they do in the west.”
When Dua Lipa revealed being ‘blown away’ by the mashup of Levitating and Woh Ladki Jo
It was in 2023 when Dua Lipa and Shah Rukh’s song mashup grabbed special attention, and the Grammy Award winner was also blown away by the same. In an interview with The Times Of India, Dua Lipa admitted that she had heard the mashup and said that it’s ‘amazing’. When asked about who her favourite Bollywood actor is, Dua took SRK’s name, stating, ‘I love Shah Rukh Khan’. Back in 2019, during her visit to India, Dua Lipa had a chance to meet King Khan, and the actor took to his IG handle and shared their photos, leaving everyone in awe.
