New Delhi:
Alia Bhatt gave a loud shout out to brother-in-law Zahaan Kapoor’s latest Netflix offering Black Warrant. The series, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and Satyanshu Singh, opened to stellar reviews.
Alia Bhatt shared a scene (from the series) featuring Zahaan on her Instagram stories. She wrote, “Currently bingeing this gem! What a fabulous show, outstanding performances by the entire cast! Special special mention to our dearest Zahan.
“So proud of what you’ve created and all the love coming your way for your top top performance. You are all heart!
“Congratulations to the entire team and the man behind it all.” Tagging Vikramaditya Motwane, Alia Bhatt wrote, “What a roll you’re on…”
Earlier, Ranbir Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor attended a special screening of Black Warrant to cheer for Zahaan.
The Netflix series is based on Black Warrant: Confessions of a Tihar Jailer, a book written by Sunil Gupta and journalist Sunetra Choudhury.
In his review for NDTV, film critic Saibal Chatterjee gave the series 3 stars and wrote, “Despite a canvas that alternates between the specific and the diffused, Black Warrant never loses cohesion. The show is technically unblemished. Cinematographer Saumyananda Sahi is unerring in imparting textural tactility and visual depth to the series.”
He added, “As a piercing look at Tihar, an absorbing story of a baptism by fire and an insightful snapshot of an era in the life of a nation, Black Warrant warrants bingeing on.”
For the unversed, Zahaan Kapoor is Sashi Kapoor’s grandson and Kunal Kapoor’s son. He made his debut with Hansal Mehta’s Faraaz (2022). Along with Zahaan, Paresh Rawal’s son Aditya Rawal also made his debut with the film.
