Ananya Panday has been riding high on the success of her latest project, CTRL. Not only has the Netflix release been met by rave reviews, but Ananya’s performance has also been lauded as exceptional. Even legendary director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali took to Instagram to congratulate the actress on her ‘career-best performance’. Well, recently, Ananya revealed that she found inspiration for her role as a social media influencer within her very own family.
Ananya Panday draws inspiration from her cousin, Alanna Panday and her husband, Ivor for CTRL
In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Ananya got candid about who she looked to for inspiration while playing the role of a social media influencer in CTRL. And it was none other than her cousin, Alanna and her husband, Ivor.
For the unversed, Alanna and Ivor are social media influencers and couple vloggers just like Ananya’s CTRL character, ‘Nella’ and her boyfriend, ‘Joe’. Talking about how watching them helped her understand more about influencers, she said:
“I see a lot of influencers, but my cousin Alanna and her husband are couple bloggers. They make vlogs about everything – from when they met, to their wedding, to her pregnancy, and even her journey with their baby. They’ve covered it all on their YouTube channel. Watching them was a close-to-home reference, helping me understand the sacrifices required to be a public figure, especially when your life is exposed even more than an actor’s.
Apart from Alanna and Ivor, Ananya had director, Vikramaditya Motwane and writer, Sumukhi Suresh to help her understand the nuances of the character. She told Bollywood Hungama that she and Vikramaditya discussed every aspect of the role while Sumukhi had a lot of insights about influencers.
Ananya Panday says she’s learnt not to share everything on social media
In the same conversation, Ananya Panday talks about how her views on social media sharing have changed. Ananya openly admitted that there was a time when she was obsessed over posting on social media. However, speaking about her opinion has evolved, she said:
“I think I’ve come to realise that sab kuch share karne ki zarurat nahi hai. Everyone doesn’t need to know everything that you’re feeling in your life. And I have made those mistakes in the past, where in some mood, I post something and everyone reacts and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I didn’t realise ki people will look into it so much.’ So now I think I’ve learnt how to deal with it.”
