Baby John crashed further on Monday and that’s not surprising at all now. The trends were there on Thursday itself when the film fell by more than 50% and then post that in rest of the weekdays it just hovered in that Rs. 4-5 crores range. Hence, it was imminent that there won’t be any respite as the weekdays kick started.
Even though this is New Year period when footfalls are better than regular days, Baby John couldn’t take advantage of that as merely Rs. 1.80 crores came in. On the flip side, one may as well assume that even this much came in because of the holiday period and without that the collections could well have gone further low. Nevertheless, none of this actually matters as collections have come down to very low levels and the film will now turn out to be merely a one-week show.
So far, the Varun Dhawan starrer has collected Rs. 30.18 crores. Even if one accounts for the holiday advantage that it will get on Wednesday due to New Year, it will struggle to reach Rs. 40 crores because Thursday collections will come down. All of this means that the film will struggle to reach Rs. 50 crores lifetime, though zero competition till January 10 means that it may just about hang in there before being pulled off the theatres.
Note: All collections as per various box office sources
