Blinkit CEO, Albinder Dhindsa had a different approach to bidding 2024 adieu, by putting himself in the shoes of a delivery agent! On New Year’s Eve, Albinder traded his executive chair for a delivery agent’s jacket, setting social media abuzz. He took up the challenge of packing and delivering orders from Blinkit’s outlet in Nirvana Country, Gurugram, for the company’s famed 10-minute delivery service. Turns out, it was more challenging than he had anticipated.
Albinder Dhindsa puts on a delivery agent’s jacket and sets out to deliver orders
On December 31, 2024, Albinder took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, sharing his plan to celebrate New Year’s Eve, Blinkit style. Dhindsa posted a picture of himself in Blinkit’s bright yellow delivery jacket with a caption that read:
“Starting the NYE posts this year from one of our stores (in Nirvana Country, Gurugram).”
Not long after that, Albinder made a follow-up post, updating his successful completion of order packing. The post had a photo of a grocery bag full of food which he managed to pack within 3 minutes. While he managed to complete the task in exactly two minutes and 57 seconds, he jokingly apologised for being “too slow,” noting that the store’s average packing time was a lightning-fast one minute and 46 seconds. He wrote:
“Done. Took me two minutes 57 seconds to pick and pack. Too slow. The average picking time at this store is 1 minute 46 seconds (sorry for the delay and happy new year to whoever’s order this was)”
After packing, Dhindsa took on the role of a delivery agent. One of the orders he delivered included a mini air hockey table, which he loaded into Blinkit’s newly launched large order fleet. These electric vehicles, designed for handling bulkier items like electronics and party supplies, are currently operational in Delhi and Gurugram, with plans to expand to other cities soon. Posing with the fleet and delivery agents, Dhindsa said:
“Introducing Blinkit’s large order fleet! These are all electric vehicles designed to handle all large (electronics/party orders) orders. Currently live in Delhi and Gurugram. Will be launching this in other cities very soon! Going to deliver the air hockey table order in one of these and then head to office.”
