Punjabi superstar, Diljit Dosanjh recently delivered a heartfelt tribute to former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh during his Guwahati concert, dedicating the evening to the late leader’s legacy. As part of the Indian leg of his ongoing Dil-Luminati Tour 2024, the multi-talented singer and actor took a moment to reflect on Dr Singh’s life and the invaluable lessons it holds for today’s youth.
Diljit Dosanjh makes a heartfelt tribute to the late leader
On December 29, Diljit, at his concert at Guwahati’s Sarusajai Sports Complex, shared a heartfelt tribute to Dr Singh. The singer shared his admiration for Dr Singh’s humility, grace, and qualities, which resonated deeply with the audience. He said:
“Today’s concert is dedicated to former late Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He led a very simple life. He never used to answer back or talk ill which is quite impossible in a profession like politics… Manmohan Singh was the first Sikh to have his signature imprinted on Indian currency.”
Diljit Dosanjh highlighted Dr Manmohan Singh’s simplicity and unshakable dignity, even in the face of criticism. He admired how the late leader never retaliated when others spoke ill of him, maintaining his composure and grace throughout his political career. He was heard saying:
“Agar mai unki life ki journey ki tarf dekhu, toh unhone itna saada jeewan ji hai, agar unko kisi ne bura bhi bola, toh unhone kabhi ulta jawaab nhi diya. Halanki politics ke career me ye sabse mushkil kaam hai.”
Acknowledging the immense difficulty of staying calm in a demanding field like politics, Diljit praised Dr Singh’s ability to rise above negativity and remain focused on his goals. The Lover singer concluded his tribute with one of Dr Singh’s favourite Shayaris, saying:
“Hazaron jawabon se meri khamoshi acchi, naa jane kitne sawaalon ki aabru dhak leti hai.”
