When Fardeen was asked which version of Feroz was stricter, he explained that there was no clear-cut answer.

Revealing that his dad was brutally honest and straightforward at all times and no matter who he was talking to, Fardeen said:

“He was strict and yes, I was scared of him. He was a formidable person, a force of nature. He was one of those people who tells you exactly as it is. He wouldn’t mince words, irrespective of who it might be, whether you’re his son or daughter, which is a great thing since it’s very rare. It’s tough, yes… it’s tough sometimes to hear certain truths. Sometimes he was not necessarily right either. If he was wrong, he’d be like ‘okay.'”

Fardeen Khan clarifies that Feroz Khan’s criticism was never derogatory

Fardeen Khan further clarified that Feroz Khan may never have held back from criticising his son’s poor life choices, especially when it came to films and acting. However, he would never do so in a manner that would diminish Fardeen or his efforts. Fardeen recalled:

“He would say, ‘These are the areas you need to improve in. This is what you’re good at etc.’ Obviously he might have taken a little special care because I was his boy. However, he was a no-nonsense person.”

Fardeen also revealed that his father had never pampered him with the perks of success. The actor confessed that he first flew business class when he was shooting his second movie Jungle (2000). However, Ram Gopal Varma had footed the tickets.

Fardeen Khan recalls his father, Feroz Khan, gave him a Rs. 50,000 monthly allowance after Prem Aggan’s failure

Fardeen Khan also recalled how his father, Feroz Khan, had supported him after the failure of his debut film. His father had promised to give him a monthly allowance of Rs. 50,000 for a period of one year as he regained his hold on the industry. Fardeen narrated:

“He was very strict with money. For my first movie, I got paid about Rs 4-4.5 lakh. When it didn’t work, I had to return a lot of money which I had taken as advance for subsequent films since people wrote me off. I was out of work. I had to return close to Rs 1 crore. Then he (Feroz) told me, ‘I’m going to support you for one year. I will give you Rs 50,000 a month and a roof over your head for one year. After that, you’re on your own. Just before Prem Aggan released, I had bought my first car, an Opel Astra, with my own money. From that Rs 50,000, Rs 23,000 went to my car instalment. Then I had to pay for my petrol and other expenses.'”

Fardeen further added that Feroz used to allot his kids a Rs. 500-1,500 allowance per week as pocket money. For the unversed, Prem Aggan not only starred Feroz Khan, but was written, directed, and produced by him as well. Despite its commercial failure, it has acquired cult status for being ‘so bad it’s good.’
