Celebrity Masterchef has entered its final stage, and the show is getting tougher with every passing task. Nonetheless, the more challenging and surprising the show gets for the contestants, the more intriguing it becomes for the viewers. While things have been amazing on the show for contestant, Gaurav Khanna, his last dish on the show left him in the middle of a brewing controversy.
Gaurav Khanna reacts to Vikas Khanna’s support
Gaurav Khanna became a household name with his stint in Anupamaa, and with his impeccable display of cooking skills in Celebrity Masterchef, fans are left in awe. However, he faced the wrath of trolls after a promo was dropped for the episode, which later aired on April 7, 2025. The promo left the trolls accusing the actor of copying Swiss chef Dives Josh’s dessert, but Chef Vikas Khanna, who was impressed with the dessert, backed him and responded to the backlash. Gaurav Khanna reshared the story shared by Vikas on Instagram and added peace stickers to it.
Vikas Khanna backs Gaurav Khanna’s dish against trolls
Chef Vikas Khanna took to his Instagram handle and defended the actor amid the ongoing feud. He posted a video that reads that one rarely gets to witness such culinary creativity and wishes the celebrity contestants the best. Farah Khan, who is also a judge on the Celebrity Masterchef judges panel, took to the comment section and penned, “Truly,” followed by a fire emoji. Vikas Khanna’s post stated:
“Very rarely do you witness Culinary Greatness like this one. I have to admit that this year’s MasterChef was next level benchmark for us. I only wish every celebrity contestant the very best.”
Chef Vikas Khanna also shared the video on his Instagram stories and further questioned the trolls for targeting Gaurav Khanna. He stated that those who were commenting on Gaurav’s dish should let them know where the dish was first created. He admitted that the actor didn’t invent the dish. However, it was the overall profile that shook them and not the originality. He was quoted as saying:
“For all those who are commenting on the brilliant dish made by @gauravkhannaofficial please let me know which chef created it first in the world. Meringue-dripping cones have been done for decades. It was the overall flavour profile and presentation that shook us.”
Chef Vikas Khanna also took to the comment section of the post and responded to an Instagram user. He explained that he had tried similar dishes on several occasions, and some made some of them of the best chefs across the globe. However, the fact remains that it was the flavours of the dish that won them over. He stated:
“I have seen several versions of this dish in the past two decades, including legendary chef Aaron Clouse. In 2009, I had a similar dish in Tokyo for the Leaders Summit by @asiasociety. No one can claim this simple idea of dripping meringue cone. But Gaurav’s version was like Tagore’s poetry. His use of ginger and flavours. Ufff.”
Gaurav Khanna was accused of copying a Swiss chef’s dish
It all started when Celebrity Masterchef dropped a promo that featured Gaurav Khanna’s creation on the show. The dessert left the chefs, Ranveer Brar and Vikas Khanna, amazed. However, soon after, the actor was trolled by numerous people for copying the dessert by a Swiss Chef, Dives. The dessert is called the Honey Dripping Dessert.
