Jaat is picking up momentum. The film finally ended up (almost) hitting double digits and that’s a good sign as it was required for the film to grow further on Saturday as well. It was a given that the film will close in around Rs. 9 crores mark at least after Friday collections had come to Rs. 7 crores. However, the first major milestone was to be better than Thursday (Rs. 9.62 crores) and the icing on the cake would have been to come really close to the Rs. 10 crores mark.
This is what has happened as well with Rs. 9.95 crores coming in and further growth will take it past Rs. 12 crores mark today. Ideally though, given the kind of merit that the film carries as well as the costs involved with it, a double digit opening day followed by Rs. 15 crores Sunday would have been the best bet. However, it has been increasingly difficult for films to collect at theatres these days unless they are sequels or event affairs, and hence for Jaat to still come in and do respectable business is a win as well.
The Sunny Deol starrer has now accumulated Rs. 26.57 crores and while Rs. 38 crores will certainly be crossed by the close of the extended weekend, the numbers will be very close to Rs. 40 crores. That’s good because now lifetime in excess of Rs. 75 crores is assured and weekdays to follow will decide where this Gopichand Malineni action drama entertainer is finally headed for.
