Picturing Bollywood and Indian cinema without the great Shah Rukh Khan is near impossible. His dimpled smile, goofy charm, and iconic open-arms pose are all firmly imprinted in the minds and hearts of fans to this day. However, it isn’t just his fans who adore him, but also his co-stars. Recently, Mahima Chaudhary who debuted alongside Bollywood’s ‘Badshah’ in the film, Pardes, reminisced about her time working with him.
Mahima Chaudhary recalls that Shah Rukh Khan was a favourite on a set from day one
In a recent interview with Radio Nasha Official, Mahima fondly revisited her days on the sets of Pardes. According to the talented actress, Shah Rukh became the focus of everyone’s attention from his very first appearance on set. She said:
“During the initial 15-20 days of Pardes, everyone kept saying he would arrive today or tomorrow, but he didn’t show up. When he finally did, everyone huddled around him, because we were all new, and waited for him to say, ‘Hi’. Once he started a conversation, everyone would listen. He is full of stories.”
Mahima Chaudhary says she would study Shah Rukh Khan’s scenes to learn from him
Mahima Chaudhary has always expressed her gratitude at being cast alongside Shah Rukh Khan during the peak of his rise to stardom. The interview with Radio Nasha Official was no different, as Mahima revealed that she would carefully watch SRK during his scenes to learn from him. She said:
“I would sit and watch his takes to see how he does the scenes, says his lines, performs the dance steps etc to watch and learn.”
Mahima had once talked about how she couldn’t even have dreamt of a debut as successful as Pardes with SRK. In an earlier interview with India Today, she said:
“When you’re doing your first film, you imagine all kinds of things but ‘Pardes’ I must say, was something that I had never dreamed of because my debut was better than even what a dream would have been.”

Pardes became a massive hit with fans and critics alike upon its release. And then-newcomer, Mahima’s performance alongside the rising star, Shah Rukh Khan did not go unnoticed. The film’s success helped pave the way for Mahima’s noteworthy career in Bollywood.
On the work front, Mahima was most recently seen in the Anupam Kher-starrer, The Signature. She is now preparing for her second release of the year, Emergency, which also stars Kangana Raut. In the film, Mahima play the role of a writer and cultural activist, ‘Pupul Jayakar’. Her character is inspired by the real ‘Pupul’, who shared a close relationship with the Nehru family and Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, in particular.
