Albinder Dhindsa is among the most notable names in the Indian business sector. He co-founded Grofers with Saurabh Kumar in 2013. On December 13, 2021, Grofers was rebranded as Blinket and focused on the fast-growing commerce space in India. The idea transformed the entire grocery-delivery sector, and as of now, it operates in 26 cities.

It was in June 2022 when Zomato acquired Blinkit for USD 568 million in an all-stock deal. In the following years, Zomato continued to invest big amounts of money in Blinket for its growth.
In June 2024, Zomato announced a fresh investment of Rs. 300 crores in Blinket, which took its total investment in the delivery brand to a staggering amount of Rs. 2,300 crores. Time and again, we have seen Blinkit breaking into the news about its expansion plans. For instance, on January 2, 2025, Blinket’s CEO, Albinder Dhindsa, announced the launch of five ambulances in Gurugram.
Apart from this, popular comedian, Kunal Kamra targeted Blinkit for exploiting their employees financially. Amidst all the positive and negative buzz around Blinkit, the brand’s CEO, Albinder Dhindsa, is doing rounds all over the internet, and people are curious to know more about his background. For the uninitiated, Albinder was born in Punjab’s Patiala, and he completed a bachelor’s program from IIT Delhi. Not only this, Albinder also went to the University of Columbia to pursue an MBA degree.

Not everyone is aware of the fact that before opening Grofers, Albinder Dhindsa worked at Zomato for two years as the Head of International Operations. After gaining enough experience in the Indian marketplace, Albinder Dhindsa co-founded Grofers in 2013. Zomato isn’t the only company where Albinder worked before venturing into entrepreneurship. Some of the companies he has worked in include URS Corporation, Cambridge Systematics, and UBS Investment Bank.

Moving on to Albinder Dhindsa’s personal life, he is married to Zomato’s co-founder and ex-CPO, Akriti Chopra. It was back in 2011 when Akriti joined Zomato as a Senior Manager, along with co-founders, Deepinder Goyal, Pankaj Chaddah, and Gunjan Patidar. She worked tirelessly for the next 13 years in building Zomato along with other co-founders. Courtesy of her incredible work in Zomato’s growth, Akriti was promoted and made a co-founder in 2021.
However, to everyone’s surprise, in September 2024, Akriti Chopra left Zomato, ending her decade-long tenure with Zomato. Talking about Akriti’s educational qualifications, she was born and brought up in Gurugram. Akriti completed her schooling at Delhi Public School and pursued a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Lady Shri Ram College for Women.
Talking about Akriti Chopra’s exit from Zomato, several media reports speculated that she reportedly left the company after several shareholders raised concerns about her potential conflict of interest in Zomato and Blinket. The concerns occurred after Zomato acquired Akriti’s husband, Albinder Dhindsa’s company, Blinket, in 2022.
However, there’s no clear picture about the same as of now. According to several reports, Akriti Chopra’s salary at Zomato in 2021 was around Rs. 1.63 crore per year. As of now, it is not known whether Akriti has joined Blinket. However, there is also a possibility of Akriti exploring new opportunities, as stated by Zomato’s co-founder, Deepinder Goyal, who shared his views on her departure from his company.
