The fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 of India against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, has been dominating the headlines off-lately. On the third day of the same, something happened that ended up leaving the netizens rolling on the floor laughing. It is Australian international off-spinner, Nathan Lyon who has been shining through the game with three wickets in his bucket in his 28.3 over spell. Well, it was ex-Australian cricketers, Kerry O’Keefe and Adam Gilchrist’s interaction on-air that left the netizens talking.
Kerry O’Keefe calls Nathan Lyon ‘taklu‘ and shared how he was once called with the same name by Indians
It all began when Adam Gilchrist heard the word ‘bald eagle’ on the stump mic when Nathan Lyon was doing his over during the third day of the fourth test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 of India and Australia. He was bowling against Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar. After hearing the word, Adam poked fun at his fellow commentator, Kerry O’Keefe, and said that the word ‘bald eagle’ was surely meant for Nathan and not for Kerry on the stump mic. He could be heard saying:
“Sure, it’s Nathan Lyon, they’re referring to and not you Kerry O’Keefe.”
Replying to the funny poke by Adam, Kerry O’Keefe said that he was once called ‘taklu‘ by Indians. Talking more about the same, Kerry stated that he once shared a joke on X (previously Twitter), and Indians started asking ‘Who’s this taklu?’ This made Kerry head towards Google to find what ‘taklu‘ means, and he found out that it means, ‘a bald man’. Later, Kerry used the same term for Nathan Lyon and ended up calling him ‘taklu’. Such interaction between the two ex-Australian cricketers left the internet users laughing out loud. Kerry can be heard saying:
“In Hindi, it’s Taklu, because I posted my joke from a cricket show, and the Indians on Twitter responded with ‘Who is the taklu?’ on the end, and I thought a picture of this shocking word about me. I looked it up in Hindi, ‘It’s a bald man’. So Nathan Lyon is a taklu.”
