Shark Tank India 4 premiered on January 6, 2024, and has already been making headlines with its outstanding pitches and diverse talents. However, like every season, some entrepreneurs did not please the judges’ panel. Something similar happened when the 19-year-old founder was overconfident and appeared on the show with a faulty app that he created two days before his pitch. The founder of Nexera.Health, Himanshu Rajpurohit made one mistake in the app, which led to him losing out on a deal, despite making quite an impression on Shark Tank India judges and claiming that this was his third start-up.
19-year-old founder, Himanshu Rajpurohit offended Aman Gupta and Vineeta Singh
Himanshu Rajpurohit appeared on Shark Tank India 4, asking for an investment of Rs. 75 lakhs for 1 per cent equity. The young entrepreneur mentioned how he was inspired by the CEO and founder of OYO, Ritesh Agarwal, who inspired him to set up a business so early in life. However, it seemed like he gave too much information too quickly and left the sharks overwhelmed. When Kunal Bahl, the co-founder of Snapdeal and Titan Capital, questioned him, Himanshu snapped back at him, which offended the CEO and co-founder of Sugar Cosmetics, Vineeta Singh. She pointed out that no one would like to invest in an app like this, while Kunal questioned Himanshu about its appeal to the CFOs.
Executive director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, Namita Thapar, also highlighted that apps like these already existed in the market and asked what differentiation Himanshu was offering. Vineeta further raised concerns about the brand and told the pitcher to ‘drop the narrative’ when the latter was unable to answer boAT Lifestyle’s CMO and co-founder, Aman Gupta’s question. However, what left Aman and Vineeta annoyed was when, during the cross-questioning, Himanshu said that he could’ve raised an investment outside and had just come on the show to seek guidance and mentorship.

In the same conversation, Kunal Bahl spotted a factual error in Himanshu’s app. The sharks were then told that the pitcher had built a new app two days before appearing on the show. Aman Gupta was shocked by his move and asked the pitcher, “I usually like to promote young talent, but why should I give you an investment?”. He further expressed his disappointment in Himanshu. He was quoted saying:
“You have a hangover of success that reflects in your third business. I was 95 percent there to make you an offer, but your attitude pissed me off. Ab mera mentorship nahi milega, because you are overconfident.”
Sharks opted out of investing in Himanshu’s business
Kunal Bahl revealed that Himanshu’s business was a ‘nice to have venture’; however, he broke his trust and won’t invest in his business. At the same time, Namita tapped out, saying, “You are not doing anything different, and you were dismissive about competition, which is why I am out.” Ritesh was appreciative of Himanshu for building three businesses by the age of 19 but still opted out and was quoted saying:
“You were in a rush with this pitch. While I cannot make you an offer, I can lend you any support or guidance you need outside.”
