Suniel Shetty, an active LinkedIn user, recently shared a new post about his daughter, Athiya, and KL Rahul’s daughter. In the post, he reflected on his joy of becoming a grandfather and mentioned that it made him realise the value of simple and small moments. Describing the little one who has brought joy into their lives, he wrote:
“That real joy mainly comes from the simplest of things. Becoming a grandfather recently – is a feeling I can’t even describe. It’s a happiness that’s pure and untouched by anything the world can give or take away. I’ve spent decades building and running businesses, making films, and trying to create something meaningful. And I’m proud of that. But when I hold my granddaughter, none of that matters. The race to have more kind of fades when you come to that point in life where you realise what truly matters.”
Suniel added that the joy reminds him of his delightful childhood days in his village in Mangalore, Karnataka, where he grew up. The actor recalled playing outdoor games with his friends barefoot and eating meals cooked with love. Those beautiful memories have become more meaningful after he witnesses his daughter, Athiya, transition into the role of a mother. For those unaware, the actor has often mentioned how his kids, Athiya, Ahaan and son-in-law, KL Rahul, are significant part of his life. Sharing his feelings over his mother becoming a great-grandmother, Suniel explained:
“And seeing my Amma hold her great-granddaughter in her arms is the kind of moment that is now a core memory. I’ll never get over the beauty of such moments. Somewhere along the way, I got caught up in the chase. It happens to all of us at some stage in life. But with age, the more you experience, the clearer it becomes. It’s not about giving up ambition or working hard. It’s about understanding what truly brings you joy. I remain driven. There’s still so much left to achieve..”

In the same post, Suniel explained that he has experienced the pressure people feel when they want to achieve more. He highlighted that it takes away the peace of life, and people realise that when it’s late. However, becoming a grandfather has grounded him again. He penned:
“Now, with this little one in my arms, seeing my Athiya transition into the most fulfilling role of her life, I find myself feeling lighter. More content. It’s like a reminder from life, telling me to keep things simple. To cherish the everyday. To be free from the weight of wanting more. For me, that’s the luxury I’m truly grateful for.”
