Ameesha Patel won everyone’s heart with her performance in Bollywood’s 2001 action romance film, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. She later impressed audiences by reprising her role as ‘Sakina’ in Gadar 2 after 22 years. Recently, the actress sat for a candid interview with Jarp Media and reflected on the time she faced a terrifying health scare while shooting the film after she got drenched in cold water. Ameesha also shared how her co-star, Sunny Deol, turned into a real-life ‘Tara Singh’ and looked after his ‘Sakina’.
Ameesha Patel recalls the time she almost died on the set of Gadar 2
During the interview, Ameesha Patel revealed she was feeling physically and mentally exhausted after shooting a water sequence for the film. She recalled that she had asked for hot water for the scene. However, she ended up being drenched in cold water. She added that the incident became worse because she was wearing a salwar kameez, which was already pretty thin and left her in extreme discomfort.
Ameesha admitted that her team tried their best to warm her up, made multiple attempts, and even offered to rub brandy on her feet. However, her condition became worse, and she was left unconscious. She also shared how the film’s team had almost given up and believed that she wouldn’t survive when she didn’t wake up for four hours. She was quoted saying:
“After I finished the scene, which people don’t know, but my staff knows. They had to lift me and take me to my make-up van. I was unconscious. I did not wake up for three to four hours. People thought I was dead. I had reached the stage where people said, ‘She won’t survive.'”
Ameesha Patel recalls how Sunny Deol took care of her
The Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai actress, Ameesha Patel, further revealed that her team had wrapped her in warm blankets, and she finally woke up after 4 hours. However, she couldn’t remember what happened in those hours. She added that Sunny Deol had turned into her real-life ‘Tara Singh’ and was there taking care of his ‘Sakina’. She revealed:
“Sunny sir was my real-life Tara Singh. He was there for Sakina when I needed him. You won’t believe he got a blood pressure machine from his room to check my blood pressure and a thermometer to check my temperature.”
The actress revealed that Sunny Deol not only took care of her but went on to coordinate with their doctors in Mumbai when local doctors tried to inject her with something because he cared about her health. Ameesha Patel expressed she feels the highest level of gratitude for Sunny’s care and support during that time.
