The 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles were nothing short of a spectacle, packed with glitzy red carpet moments, roast-worthy jokes and some truly heartwarming acceptance speeches. From record-breaking nominations to a night full of surprises, here’s everything that made this Golden Globes one for the books.
Nikki Glaser: Queen of Roasts
Nikki Glaser made history as the first woman to solo host the Golden Globes. From her hilarious zingers to roasting Timothee Chalamet’s Bob Dylan impression, Nikki brought the laughs. She kicked off the night with a cheeky joke about the night being “Ozempic’s biggest night” and kept the comedic momentum rolling with her “Peacock” roast.
Among the highlights of her opening monologue, she took playful jabs at Peacock’s The Day of the Jackal, joked about the film Emilia Perez being “the most ambitious film to play after Is It Cake?,” and humorously said that Challengers was “more sexually charged than Diddy’s credit card.”
Nikki even poked fun at Adam Sandler, calling him up to say Timothee Chalamet’s name in his trademark babyish voice.
The comedian ended her monologue with a clever nod to the evolving nature of success in Hollywood: “The point of making art isn’t to win awards. It’s to start a tequila brand so popular you never have to make art again.” A round of applause for the queen of humour.
Shogun Dominates The Award Ceremony And How
Hiroyuki Sanada, Tadanobu Asano and Anna Sawai made it a night to remember for Shogun at the 2025 Golden Globes. Sanada took home the award for Best Television Male Actor – Drama Series, while Asano was honoured as Best Supporting Male Actor – Television.
Not to be outdone, Anna Sawai won Best Television Female Actor – Drama Series. To top it all off, Shogun was crowned Best Drama Series, sweeping awards in every category it was nominated for.
“I Am An Actor From Japan”
Tadanobu Asano, the Best Supporting Actor in a TV Drama Series for Shogun, sent the crowd into a frenzy with his humble and heartfelt speech. “Maybe you don’t know me, I’m an actor from Japan,” he said.
No Golden Globe For All We Imagine As Light
In a historic moment for Indian cinema, All We Imagine As Light was nominated in two categories: Best Director and Best Non-English Language Film. While it didn’t win (with Emilia Perez taking home the award for Best Non-English Language Film), the film’s nominations were a massive achievement in itself.
Zoe Saldana Gets Emotional, Kieran Culkin Gets Tipsy
Zoe Saldana broke down in tears while accepting her first Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for Emilia Perez. It was a well-deserved win, and her emotional speech had fans tearing up too.
Meanwhile, Kieran Culkin won Best Supporting Actor for A Real Pain, but his “tequila”-fueled acceptance speech took a detour-improvising his way through praise for his wife and the film’s crew. Classic Culkin.

Jessica Gunning won TV’s Best Supporting Actress award for Baby Reindeer and cracked us up with her quip, “I almost showed my Golden Globes.” Meanwhile, Paul W. Downs’ acceptance speech for Hacks included a PSA about Jean Smart’s tequila habits that had the room laughing.
And when Elton John presented the Best Film Score award, he cleared up rumours about his eye infection and joked, “It’s not as bad as it seems, so I’m so glad to be here with my co-host Rihanna.”
Acceptance Speeches (But With A Dash Of Humour)
The awards night was filled with fun speeches. When Peter Straughan accepted Best Screenplay, he joked, “I’m one ball of gratitude squeezed into a borrowed tux.” And Shogun’s Anna Sawai gave a nod to Kathy Bates in her Best Actress acceptance, saying, “I’d vote for her any day!” It wasn’t all serious business-there was plenty of comedic gold to go around.
Romantic Alert: Date Night, Anyone?
It was also a big night for celebrity couples. Selena Gomez and her fiance Benny Blanco shared mushy moments throughout the night. Although they skipped the red carpet, they looked every bit the happy couple during the ceremony.
And, of course, who could miss Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet? Although Jenner skipped the red carpet, she was seen sitting next to her boyfriend. This marked their second consecutive Golden Globes appearance as a couple.
Wicked Gags
Nikki Glaser wasn’t the only one with a flair for the dramatic. She kicked off her monologue in a pink-sequined gown, even performing a Wicked joke that had us all laughing (until she pretended to take a call telling her to stop). And speaking of Wicked, she later cracked about her “boyfriend’s boyfriend really loving it.”
