Unacademy is one of the biggest ed-tech platforms in India, and according to multiple reports, it will get even bigger in the upcoming year 2025. Unacademy’s CEO, Gaurav Munjal, recently stated that 2025 will be the ‘Best Year’ for its company in terms of growth. Well, amidst all the talk about growth and success, Unacademy pulled a rabbit out of its hat on its 9th anniversary by inviting Samay Raina to their event.
Unacademy’s roast: Samay Raina trolls the ed-tech company by mentioning Physicswallah’s founder, Alakh Pandey and Allen Career Institute
The popular comedian and roaster, who has been grabbing headlines for his show, India’s Got Latent, didn’t miss a chance to drop everyone’s jaw. Right from his entry to his last interaction with the students and staff of Unacademy, it was an entertaining event whose video is now gaining a lot of views on the internet. However, the reason why Samay Raina’s roast is doing rounds even in the business section is because he mentioned Alakh Pandey and Allen Career Institute.
One of Unacademy’s most recognised educators, Seep Ahuja, was handling the event. When she mentioned another big surprise, Samay Raina quickly said, “Oh my god, Alakh sir aa rahe hain!” The one-liner left the audience in splits, and it received a huge roar and whistles from the crowd. However, Samay didn’t stop there. He even made a reference to Allen Career Institute by saying that his favourite musician is Alan Walker.
Physicswallah’s founder, Alakh Pandey rejected Unacademy’s alleged Rs. 75 crore acquisition offer
For the uninitiated, reports have been rife in the business space for some time that Unacademy allegedly offered to acquire Alakh Pandey’s company, Physicswallah, for Rs. 75 crore. However, Alakh Pandey reportedly rejected the tempting offer and decided to run Physicswallah as an independent institution. Although there’s no confirmation about the acquisition reports, the media corridors have been speculating about this alleged offer in their news headlines for some time now.
Allen Career Institute is reportedly in talks to acquire Unacademy for USD 800 million
According to multiple reports, Allen Career Institute plans to acquire Unacademy in a deal worth USD 800 million. If the deal is finalised in the coming months, it would make Unacademy one of India’s largest consolidations in the ed-tech sector. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding this deal from both parties at the moment.
Who is Seep Ahuja? Meet Unacademy’s stunning educator, who reacted to Samay Raina’s savage roast
Seep Ahuja is one of Unacademy’s most popular educators, who joined the ed-tech company in August 2020. She is a biology teacher, an author, and an NEET biology expert. Before Unacademy, Seep Ahuja worked as a professor at Aakash Educational Services Limited and served as a research project assistant at Guru Nanak Dev University. Apart from working as an educator with Unacademy, she also runs a YouTube channel with 478K subscribers. Even on Instagram, she has a strong fan following of 153K followers.
Seep Ahuja broke into the headlines after Unacademy’s roast as she hosted and interacted with Samay Raina on the stage. The comedian roasted her and the institution with his jaw-dropping one-liners, but Seep took them with a smile. As soon as the video went viral, people started debating whether Unacademy made a mistake by inviting Samay Raina to their event or not, as he literally trolled them. However, many netizens lauded the company’s decision to target social media reach and news headlines.
Amidst all the debate about whether Unacademy’s move was fruitful for them, the ed-tech company dropped a video on their YouTube channel featuring Seep Ahuja. In the video, Seep Ahuja clearly denied rumours of Unacademy being unhappy with the way Samay Raina roasted them at their own event and shared how it was just a fun exercise, and they’re pretty cool with it. The educator urged students to stay on track and focus on their studies. Seep Ahuja is getting a lot of limelight from her calm response to Samay Raina’s roast, and it seems all things are in balance at the moment.
